Whoa! I woke up this morning, peeked outside and there is snow on the ground and rooftops. I’ll admit it’s not a lot of snow but it is a small amount that’s enough to cover the roofs and at least some of the grass. It’s enough to make this whole 12 Days Of Christmas seem pretty real. Let’s be honest this year has flown by. I mean shouldn’t it still be March 2009 not December 5, 2009? Oh well, with Christmas only 20 days away I hope you’re getting ready and having moments along the way where you can just stop and soak in the season.

Today is my Dad’s birthday. My heart goes out to all the December birthdays out there cause I know it’s a busy time for everyone and sometimes your birthday gets looked over a little bit because of everything else going on. My Dad always reminds us that he has a birthday and a Christmas….(not that we ever forget but he still feels the need to remind of us.) Well, here’s a big “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” not only to my Dad but anybody else with a birthday this month. I hope your special day will be a very blessed and happy day.

For Day 5 of my 12 Days of Christmas you get a pretty good deal. “Joy To The World” is one of my favorites on the album. It’s kind of acoustic….has some sleigh bells on it…..it’s just light hearted and fun. As I was planning the arrangement of the song I came across that “Joy To The World” was inspired/based on Psalms 98.

1 Sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done marvelous things;
his right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
2 The LORD has made his salvation known
and revealed his righteousness to the nations.

3 He has remembered his love
and his faithfulness to the house of Israel;
all the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.

4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth,
burst into jubilant song with music;

5 make music to the LORD with the harp,
with the harp and the sound of singing,

6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—
shout for joy before the LORD, the King.

7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it.

8 Let the rivers clap their hands,
Let the mountains sing together for joy; 9 let them sing before the LORD,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples with equity.

I pray you will join in with the creation and the angels and sing along. “Joy to the world, the Lord is come.” Let’s keep shouting that story to the ends of the earth: Jesus was born for you but you have to receive Him for that joy and that celebration to be alive in you.

Happy Saturday and day 5 to you and yours. Whether there is snow on the ground where you live or if you just have to heat up some hot chocolate and pretend it’s winter, don’t forget it’s Christmastime!
